A greatly misunderstood animal, the possum is North America's only marsupial that has various myths swirling around them.

Myth 1: Possums carry Diseases--possums are actully pretty disease resistant and are unlikely to carry raibies.

Myth 2: Possums are nusiances--possums are actully helpful creatures as they eat ticks and are resitant to snake venom, allowing them to eat venomous snakes.
They'll also eat roaches, rats, mice and dead animals making them an awesome personal clean-up crew.

Myth 3: Possums are ugly--Ummmm....NO

1. Possums and Opossums are not the same thing
2. They can't choose when to play dead (but emit an offensive odor to sell the performance when they do)
3. their tails act as a fifth appendage
4. they're social
5. their reproductive systems are complicated
