Pilates is a holistic training method, primarily created for core strengthening and activating the low-lying muscles. Therefore in Pilates you discover exercises that focus on your abs and your (lower) back, but also on your thighs and butt and even your pelvic floor. Also stretching and controlled breathing play an important role. Pilates was originally created by German personal coach Joseph Hubertus „Joe“ Pilates (1883-1967) and is a popular sport today, that especially attrackts women. It improves body-consciousness, mindfulness, posture and the ability to gain muscle stregth through a deeper and slower training with therefore more controlled movements.
Pilates is a very beginner-friendly sport, but also serves as an additional training to an already existing sports routine for health aspects. Intensity can be increased anytime depending on the individual training level.
