Oliver Jeffers is a visual artist and author who specialises in painting, bookmaking, illustration, collage, performance, and sculpture. Jeffers was born and bred in Belfast, Northern Ireland, but now works and resides in Brooklyn, New York. Key themes which embody Oliver's individualistic approach to his artistic practice and storytelling are curiosity and humour. This is most notable in his children's books, which reflect a childlike wonder in a broad and diverse world.

However, a lesser known element of his work is his passion for social justic such as the Black Lives Matter movement. On his website, Jeffers quotes Angela Davis' statement that: 'In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist. We must be anti-racist.'
