A few weeks ago, I was on a flight back to Houston. For the majority
of the ride I was sleep, but I was jerked out of my sleep when the
plan hit a great amount of turbulence. I immediately started to get
nervous. My heart was racing, palms sweating, and I was trying to stay
calm. As I was sitting in my seat quietly praying and trying to calm
myself down I begin to hone in on the song that was playing through my
headphones.
For the Spirit of the Lord is here
The evidence is all around
That the Spirit of the Lord is
here"
It was in that moment after listening to those words over and over
that God began to calm my spirit. As I looked out at the clouds
surrounding the plane and I felt the turbulence that came with this
beautiful atmosphere I realized that our journey to purpose is just
like the uncomfortable ride I was experiencing. Purpose is beautiful,
but with purpose comes unexpected turbulence. The journey won’t always
be easy. It won’t always feel good, and sometimes there is nothing you
can do, but endure the ride. However, once we realize that God is
right there with us in the midst of our turbulence we can look with
our spiritual eyes and see the beauty in our mess. As I begin to see
the symbolism of this plane ride to my current life I was overwhelmed
with peace and excitement. Because I realize once I get through this
turbulence I will make it to my final destination. So, I just want to
encourage who ever may stumble upon this blog to know that your plane
ride to purpose may start off smooth, but when you hit turbulence
don’t get scared and think that maybe you won’t make it your purpose
or that you made a bad decision. Anything worth having will have its
obstacles, but it is how you face that obstacle that God is trying to
show you. If on that plane ride I had decided to start crying and
being very dramatic I would have made myself look crazy, but I didn’t
freak out. I trusted God that if He had purpose for me that this
little bit of turbulence was not going to stop me from reaching that
purpose. So do you trust God enough to know that just because you are
late paying your rent and you don’t know where the money will come
from that God will still come through for you right on time. God has
delivered a WHOLE man from the mouth a WHALE. God delivered THREE MEN
from burning in a flame. Just in case you still doubting He delivered
Daniel from the lions den. I can look at those situations and know
that if God delivered them from situations that seem humanly
impossible to escape I know He can fix my jacked up situation.
So I challenge you today to put ALL your
trust in God, and know that if during your moments faced with
turbulence that God is right there with you.
