Librar.te is an initiative that fosters art as a cathartic means to
free oneself of their worries. In Elena Ucanan's case, the COVID-19
pandemic brought about as much extra time as it did worries. This
pushed Elena,
60 year-old art enthusiast and stay-at-home mom, to uncover
a number of new passions.
The focus of this initiative is to showcase her progress with
crocheting, as she knitted 50+ items over the span of 2 years (March
2020-March 2022).
I suspect my keenness stems from stubbornness, to prove myself
that I am capable of figuring things out.
While knitting and crocheting, she would simultaneously learn about
astrology, a passion that is also winked at in Librarte's name.
Moreover, Librarte's focus on channeling anxiety through art stems
from Elena's vested interest in Yoga. Ever since 2020, this
newly-discovered passion has accompanied her in her growth as a
person in an attempt to find balance.
It is in this day an age (57 years old) that I come to practice
yoga. My whole life I have been a non-sporty person , even then I
did notice the difference Yoga has made in my life.
Although “Librar.te” carries multiple meanings, we believe our
pieces best explain what LIBRA.rtE stands for…
