Nyonya laksa

Nyonya laksa is the signature spicy noodle soup of the Nyonyas in Malacca – a distinctive blend of regional Chinese and Malay cuisine.

Laksa comes in many forms throughout Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore. In Malacca, it is made with a rich, spicy, slightly sweet coconut broth. Laksa usually comes with rice noodles, fish cakes or fish balls, cockles (a type of shellfish), prawns, a hard-boiled egg, fried tofu puffs and beansprouts. It is then garnished with cucumber strips, chopped fresh laksa leaves and a dollop of sambal belacan.
