Afrobeats, a term that describes the most popular music coming out of West Africa. Afrobeats is often jovial, digitally produced, and sung in English, West African, and pidgin languages. Initially developed in Ghana, Nigeria and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing out of West Africa. Famous afrobeats artists include Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Sarkodie, King Promise, Olamide, Runtown and lots more.
