It started to become an important area of studies in 1974 when Faith Popcorn created the BrainReserve consulting firm. She is one of the most important reseachers in this area and has been pointed as one of the advesers of Kodak - the most famous photograpic company in the history, to move to digital photos cameras in the late 80's.
That being said, we can image how Trends Studies are important for all companies to keep their business alive and sustaible for many years and it shows us that FUTURE IS A LIE because everything we live now is already that future where we are always pursuing to get.
