“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” -George R.R. Martin
Every work of literature can be divided into a genre with its own
elements, tone, style, and storytelling devices.
Every reader has preferences for books, and all of them fall into genres
or sub-genres. Whether you are interested in dystopian, young adult,
sci-fi, self-help, or historical fiction books, you probably prefer
certain genres.
A genre refers to the types of books that fall into that category. They
are categorized by their style, tone, time period, target audience, and
numerous other factors. These are the factors that differentiate fiction
from nonfiction.
