The
Morpho
Butterfly

A Natural, Compelling Beauty

Pictured above is a morpho butterfly in its natural habitat.

The Morpho Butterfly has wings that, to the human eye, appear an irredescent shade of blue. Descriptors of this butterfly note "their vivid, irredescent blue coloring is a result of the microscopic scales on the backs of their wings, which reflect light." Morpho butterflies are known to be of the largest butterflies in the world, with "wings spanning from five to eight inches". Though butterflies have a known lifespan of approximately 2-4 weeks, to behold a morpho butterfly within your own lifetime is undoubtedly an extraordinary treat.
