Did you know these bright-colored creatures are actually descendents from dinosaurs? From scaley feet to hollow bones, even their intelligence can be traced back to a group of prehistoric reptiles called "theropods." Unlike their prehistoric ancestors, they've become loving pets and large attractions at events. Currently there are more than 350 types of breeds. All the breeds share similar traits with curved beaks, four toes per foot, and sharing the same diet. Their diet consists of fruits, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and occasionally insects for the smaller breeds. The largest parrot populations can be found in South America, Australia, and Central America. Ranging from just a few inches to 3 feet in size, they can be quite the handful to care for!
