The Best Pizzelle Recipe

Pizzelle are a traditional Italian waffle cookie made from eggs, sugar, anise (or vanilla), butter or oil and flour.

Pizzelle Recipe

  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  • Combine dry ingredients
  • Beat eggs and sugar together until combined
  • Add in the vanilla to the egg mixture
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet, a little at a time
  • Combine well, the mixture will be thick
  • Add a small, tabelspoon size, of the mixture to your pizzelle press and cook until golder brown
  • Repeat untill all the cookies are made
  • Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve!

Notes

Pizzelle dough can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. Allow the dough to come to room temperature before cooking. Pizzelles can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
