One of the most fascinating things about astronomy, in my opinion, is the night sky and the constellations. Constellations are any of certain groupings of stars that were imagined—at least by those who named them—to form conspicuous configurations of objects or creatures in the sky. Constellations are useful in assisting astronomers and navigators to locate certain stars. Many officially recognized constellations are based in the imaginations of ancient, Near Eastern and Mediterranean mythologies.
