I Adore Elephants

One of nature's great masterpieces

Elephants cuddle

Elephants are the largest terrestrial creatures in the world, with adult males reaching heights of up to 3 meters and weights of up to 6000 kilograms. It's interesting to note that the elephants' trunks are basically just bigger incisor teeth, which initially develop at roughly 2 years of age. In addition to sucking up water to drink, elephants also use their trunks as snorkels when they swim. Elephants are among the very few species that can identify their own image in a mirror. They are highly intelligent creatures with complex emotions, feelings, compassion, and self-awareness. The ultimate display of love is when they touch, snuggle, and entwine their trunks. Another unique characteristic of elephants is that, because of their larger and denser temporal lobes than those of humans, "they never forget." They are thought to be on par with dolphins in terms of their capacity to solve problems.
