The word ‘Grisha’ alludes to humans who practice
the Small Science, which is the art of manipulating matter (essentially,
this world’s version of magic). They are traditionally divided into three
orders, Corporalki,
Etherealki
and Materialki, with each order being
further divided into specialized types.
The Grishaverse encompasses works by Leigh Bardugo that are set in this
Grisha-centric universe. Although the stories may not always be directly
linked in terms of characters or narrative, each of these books is set in
the realm of the Grisha. Heavily inspired by tsarist Russia, Bardugo’s
world is rife with magic, intrigue, and spans across mountains, kingdoms,
and even dark and impenetrable magical barriers.
