Historically men have dominated classic literature, and for centuries, the talent of women writers was not recognized nor celebrated. Many choosing to use a male pen name as a disguise to be able to publish their works. Thankfully thanks to historians their real identities were discover and they were given credit for their art.
A lifetime could be spent just reading great classics by women and you would never run out of reading material.
