Everyone knows what a color wheel is. It looks like a pie, with the pieces representing primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.
Color wheels are a fun and easy way to help teach and use for a quick reference guide. It helps us visualize and communicate our color needs.
Despite it's popularity, it is inherently incorrect.
To more factually represent color, you need a three dimensional space to portray the different aspects of a singular color. Not only that, but each medium that displays colors has it's own "color space" or range of colors it can produce. On top of that, all living things can view only a certain number of colors - which means we don't actually see all colors that exist.
Who knew colors could be so exciting and complex?
