The aggressive, yassified shrimp, Mantis,
is probably the most colorful predator of the deep. Classified as either a
Spearer or a Smasher,
Mantis has a wide array of prey that they either stab or
violently bludgeon to death. While the Spearer
is their own type of deadly with their barbed tips, the
Smasher is the true weapon with their
deadly packed punch. Their dactyl clubs, a.k.a. fists, are spring loaded
with a punch so powerful it has the velocity of a gunshot from a .22 caliber rifle.
Mantis' existence as a natural weapon comes wtih many perks such as having
the most complex eyes ever discovered. Their eyes have trinocular vision, able to
gauge depth and distance. These eyes have 12-16 different color photoreceptors that
are used for color analysis in the retina. This is three times as many as humans
meaning Mantis can see colors that our minds couldn't even comprehend.
