What Are Peonies?

(Climate, Origin, and Colors)

Pink Peonies

The peony is a flower with a sweet, rosy, citrusy aroma that stimulates all of your nose's receptors. It is in full bloom during the month of May. In late April, it sprouts its head and begins to stretch its pedals, and in early June, it bows its head to begin a new year. But it isn't out of the ordinary to see them out on display at your local grocery store during the winter season. This flower prefers a sunny location with moderate water. Peonies are native to Asia, Europe, and Western North America, and their colors range from light pink to pink, green/ivory, red, blue, white etc. This full-faced flower can make a statement anywhere — on the side of the road, in the middle of your dining room table, or as the center piece of a bride's stunning bouquet. You can't miss it no matter where you find it. It will always catch your attention and that is why the peony is my all-time favorite flower.
