The Monstera Deliciosa is often everyones first dip into houseplants as it's such a beautiful plant. However, it's easy to
overwater or underwater. I made the mistake of watering mine every two
weeks without checking it's dryness. This resulted in root rot, which it
still suffers from. I also got over-excited and kept repotting into bigger
pots, but soon learned that monsteras enjoy small pots that they can take
up space. In order to bring mine back from the brink, I repotted into a
smaller pot and now do the moisture test prior to watering. I've also gone next-level plant crazy and given it a humidity shower.

Also known as the Diffenbacia, this is my absolute favourite
houseplant by far. Bought and transported to the Midlands from a cute
little plant shop in Leeds called The Plant Point,
it has gone from strength to strength. It's currently sprouting another cane which I'm
very excited to watch grow. It will also balance out the plant as it's looking a little naked
on one side!

My Colocasia was a random find in my local Sainsburys looking a
little sad at the back behind the showy plants. It was a big awkward to
walk around Sainsburys with to do a bit of shopping but I wasn't prepared
to give up this lovely plant to someone who might kill it! It doesn't seem
to be producing lots of leaves, but has produced one in it's time with me
so I'm taking that as a win.

This hardy plant goes by the botanical name Spathiphyllum. I
know, rolls off the tongue. I bought this with a garden centre voucher
given to me by a family friend years ago and we've gone on quite a journey
together. It came back home with me when I moved, and has moved back out
with me. I didn't realise this plant is toxic to animals, which means it's
a miracle my two cats survived! This plant can survive over or under
watering, or absolute abandonment.
