Olga of Kiev

Olga of Kiev An outstanding historical figure, one of the golden pages of our centuries-old history. She was the wife of Prince Igor I and the mother of Svyatoslav I the Brave. Olga was a regent of Kievan Rus' for her son Sviatoslav from 945 until 960. After husbant Igor's death in 945, Olga ruled Kievan Rus' as regent on behalf of their son Sviatoslav.

She was the first woman to rule Kievan Rus'. This wise, strong, charismatic woman became the ruler of Kievan Rus for 17 years, one of the most powerful states of that time.

Lesya Ukrainka

Lesya Ukrainka Lesya Ukrainka was one of Ukrainian literature's foremost writers, best known for her poems and plays. She was also an active political, civil, and feminist activist. Outstanding Ukrainian writer, poet, translator and cultural figure. Many of her works are recognized as masterpieces of world literature. She wrote her first poem t the agae of nine, the last at the age of 40.

In total, Lesya Ukrainka wrote about 270 poems, as well as poems and poetic dramatic works.

Kateryna Bilokur

Kateryna Bilokur Kateryna was a Ukrainian folk artist born in the Poltava Governorate. Her birth date is unknown but 7 December is used as her official birthday. After an unpromising start, her works became known in the late 1930s and 1940s for their interest in nature. She was named People's Artist of Ukraine.

Pablo Picasso saw her work exhibited in Paris and commented, "If we had an artist of this level, we would make the whole world talk about her."
