I love learning about paintings of the past!

I love learning about the history of art. Knowledge in this field helps to develop a well-round understanding of the world and its history, as well as the ways in which humans have communicated through time. Painting and sculpture are a visual depiction of history. Before photography existed and without art, how would we have known what Henry VIII or Julius Ceaser looked like? Studying the art of the past teaches us how people have seen themselves and their world, and how they want to show this to others. Art history provides a means by which we can understand our human past and its relationship to our present, because the act of making art is one of humanity's most ubiquitous activities.
