Jeow

What is jeow? Jeow translated to the english word meaning dip or sauce. In the Lao culture we have many jeow recipes. Jeow is usually eaten by dipping it with Lao sticky rice, eating it with raw/parboiled vegetable, or some type of protein such as seafood. One of my favorite Lao jeow is called Jeow Mak-Len, which is seen in the picture above. Jeow mak-len is translated to tomato sauce. One can consider this our version of salsa. This jeow is best paired with the best cuts of meat, brisket or ribeye. Click on the links below to view the many jeow recipes Lao has to offer.
