Rock hyraxes (Procavia capensis) and yellow-spotted rock hyraxes (Heterohyrax brucei) are small, herbivorous mammals from the order Hyracoidea. They live on rock outcrops in Africa, although P. capensis is also found in the Middle East. Hyraxes are typically 30-70cm long and weigh 2-5kg. Their life span is 9 to 14 years.
