Some of us may think 'Oh This is an awesome article' or 'This is a book I can't stop reading' or 'This is fun and pretty interesting'. And yes! Those are a common affirmations, but the truth is that very few of us has an idea of how much effort, time, stress, and mistakes an Author survived behind that article every single day before somebody has ever read that piece of art. But also is very unpopular that people like you and me ask ourselves those questions every time we read a magazine or a page in a book right?
First let me introduce myself, my name is Dulce Acevedo, I'm an Author and I'm going to show you my sixt powerful activities that I use to do (religiously 🔍) before sitting in front of my desk and start writting:
Medidation is an ancient powerful tool that helps to create space in your mind and regulates natural brain chemicals that gives you more focus and concentration. You don't need to be an expert just try to relax and concentrate on your deep breathe. Practice and with patience you will improve on it.
Ok! This is maybe not every single day. Nevertheless this is an excellent tool when your mind is getting distracted very often. Sometimes your brain and your body needs to tell you that requires a little distraction or movement to star over, so walk, do some exercise, breathe fresh air and... enjoy the moment!
The best music that may help you to connect with writting is those that matches with the feelings you wanto to imprint in your story. The best recommendation from me, is to start with frequencies, or natural sounds and let your intuition guide you into the best atmosphere that your writting needs. Trust your feelings and let yourself flow through it.
This is what I call 'practice'. If you wanto to be good at this you are doing you need to reherse your vocabulary and also that implies to learn from others too. One of the best thing you can do as a writer is to study the narrative from others, the story other people is telling to the world, the way somebody expresses his or her feelings. You got the point, right?
Is super important to get a good sleep... But the best part of that beautiful restorative night is that once you are awake, immediately catch the best of your dreams. So what I'm encouraging to do is have a notebook and a pen and once you open your eyes start to write in hand every single detail you remember. This will help you boost your creativity and give your brain neuroplasticity, meaning... to retain more information to create better stories.
One day you'll realize that the best story you can tell is actually yours. And No, I'm not saying that you should describe the world your entire life, just observe into your mind, see what your experiences are telling you, and let the imagination flow. Journaling has became the best of my rituals, nothing fancy at all, but at the end of the day I just start writting my lessons of the day and put down what I was grateful for. Start simple and afer a week or two see what happen.
