All names that were on the radio and accompanied the youngster of that time and even now is young people threw the years. But the name that pops off everyone's mind when they think about this decade is Variações. António was a genius, ahead of his time in Portugal, and for that, he shocked everyone, and I mean everyone. He died young and didn't make a lot of music, but every single one of his sounds changed Portugal's vibration forever.
The 90's introduces rap and hip hop to the mix. DaWeasel and Boss AC were the main artist in the genre. They introduced to Portugal another's country sound and took it another level. Poetry was the life source of expression threw music. At the same time the pop genre was also making its presence with artist like Radio Macau and Ornatos Violeta. Ornatos began as a group of friends sharing the strange phases of love and revolt that we as human beings go threw, which made them very popular, since everyone saw themselves as a part of their stories.
The 00's was a time of globalization. Bands and artist like The Gift, Blind Zero, Rodrigão Leão and David Fonseca wrote and performed songs in english and spanish, which put them out on the world. Also at the same time hip hop music was going up, acoustic sounds were popping on the radio with Mafalda Veiga, João Pedro País, Os Azeitonas and Lúcia Moniz.
