It was a cold March day as we were in Slovenia attempting to hike on
Mala Mojstrovka. The panoramic Mt. Mala Mojstrovka is
(thanks to Vršič mountain pass) one of the most quickly accessible and
consequently most visited 2000-meter peaks in the central Julian Alps.
Khm, well, usually it is,
but in the winter and at a high avalance risk, comming to our hiking
start point we quickly decided to try an easier route trying to
"conquer" the nearby and not so risky peek "Nad šitom glava 2080m". A
cold wind was blowing, we were slowly climbing our way to the top, the
feeling wass surreal. Suddenly, we noticed a snowmass that looked not so
frozea as the rest, it looked loose, we were just 20m apart from the
top. But we stopped, we were affraid that this snowmass could move.
After a breef conversation, we decided to turn and go back, this was a
decision everyone felt confortable with.
As hikers, we often feel a great fear of the nature, but with fear comes
respect and admiration for the power of nature, and that is the main
reason we love spending our time in this activity!
