I love to travel and one of my favorite things to do is to take weekend
trips exploring my own backyard. Just two hours east of Seattle
Washington is the little Bavarian town of Leavenworth. Tucked in the
foothills of the Cascade mountains this little village is filled with
alpine style buildings, beer gardens, speciality shops and amazing
German food! This itinerary will help you make the most of your short
trip to Leavenworth.
Day 1
Arrive in Leavenworth and check into your luxurious room at the Post
Hotel. After settling in take a quick five minute walk to Leavenworth
Pizza Company for some delicious pizza and get to bed early so you can
rest up for your morning hike.
Day 2
Get an early start to your morning so you can begin your hike to
Colchuck lake around sunrise for breath taking views of a pristine
alpine lake nestled in the shadows of the towering Cascade mountains.
I mean look at that view!
Afterwards head back to Leavenworth and treat yourself to a hard
earned pretzel, beer and bratwurst at Rhein Haus. Finish off your day
with a relaxing massage at Post Hotel’s luxury spa.
Day 3
Enjoy a nice slow morning and a delicious European style breakfast at
your hotel then make your way to
Leavenworth Reindeer Farm,
a family-run farm that offers hands on educational tours that are fun
for all ages. End your day exploring the Bavarian village and be sure
to check out the Nutcracker Museum to see one of the largest
nutcracker collections in the world and maybe sneak in a wine tasting
at one of the many local tasting rooms.
Day 4
After checking out of your hotel stop by Argonaut biscuits and coffee
for an amazing breakfast sandwich and a coffee for the road! If you
have time work in a quick hike to Mount McCausland to take in some of
the most spectacular fall colors that Washington has to offer.
