Our names are Lauren and Maria. We are New York City public school music supervisors and educators with over 10 years experience of bringing culturally responsive teaching to the diverse learners and young musicians of New York City. Teaching general music together at The Equity Project Charter School in the Washington Heights Neighborhood of Manhattan, we realized we shared a passion of collaborating and celebrating all the successes in urban music classrooms. Upbeat City Music is a space for music educators in urban schools to share ideas, best practices, and celebrate one another!
