Eight-thousanders are the mountains on Earth which have summits over 8,000 metres above sea level. These reach into the "death zone", the altitude at which the atmosphere does not enough oxygen to sustain human life. If you want to learn more about what it takes to summit these mountains, you can do it from the comfort and relative safety of your own couch. One glaring omission from this list is the PBS documentary Storm over Everest, about the 1996 season disaster that claimed the lives of eight people. It is available on YouTube.
