Baking and cooking have always been a passion of mine. I truly believe
that you can find peace and tranquility when making something from
scratch. Although many say that cooking and baking are extremely
complicated due to having to be precise with measurements sometimes, I
still find it fun and enjoyable. There is nothing more exciting to me,
than bringing in a dessert I made and having everyone eat it
delightfully!
My favorite recipe, and the one I want to share with you is from
my home country of Colombia. It is a
Flan De Cafe or Coffee Flan. In Colombia, coffee is a very important part of our culture, so it
is only right to mix it into a sweet custard and have it for dessert!
This dessert is very easy to make and has a simple custard base of
sugar, eggs, sweetened condesnsed milk, heavy cream among other pantry
staple ingredients. I like to use a Colombian instant espresso powder,
such as the Juan Valdez brand, to give it a strong puch of coffee
flavor. Sometimes I will even brew some espresso and pour in a little,
and sip the rest while I make this dessert. Although this is a
"dessert" I wouldn't blame you for having it for breakfast with a nice
hot espresso! I would invite everyone to check out the recipe by
