'Wonders of the Waterways' is a collection of 21 rhyming
poems inspired by the waterways. It explores a broad range of topics
and themes - from history and heritage to pollution and the
environment. This pocket-sized poetry anthology makes ideal reading
material to enjoy while you're warming up in front of the stove after
a day spent cruising.
This collection of poems was written in celebration of Britain's
waterways. Through playful rhymes and vivid descriptions, the poems
explore our canals and rivers from the perspective of different
waterways users including boaters, wild swimmers, paddleboarders and
fishermen. It also aims to draw attention to some of the challenges
facing our waterways such as plastic pollution and the loss of
precious heritage.

✒️ ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Georgia Howe has been an avid writer since the age of eleven when her
poem ‘The Stone Turtle’ was featured in a poetry anthology to showcase
the best young literary talent in the West Midlands. The book was
published as part of the Young Writers’ 17th Annual Poetry
Competition.
Georgia was born in Hemel Hempstead but has since travelled
extensively throughout the UK and abroad. Time spent living in Saudi
Arabia and South Africa during her childhood inspired a passion for
travel and adventure. Returning to the UK only furthered her desire to
explore, with many beautiful summers spent hiking in the Herefordshire
countryside, camping on a family friend’s farm in Ireland, and helping
to run copper repousse workshops at festivals across the country.
After living in Herefordshire since her return to England, Georgia
made the difficult decision to leave her family and friends behind for
a new adventure. In 2019, she moved on to a traditional narrowboat and
began continuously cruising the inland waterways. It was during her
travels that Georgia started to document the journey in the form of
vlogs and launched ‘The Liveaboard Family’ YouTube channel.
She has since featured on television and local radio, with her story
being picked up by BBC Midlands Today, BBC Hereford & Worcester and
BBC West Midlands radio station. Her writing and photography has also
been featured in one of the UK’s leading waterways publications called
Waterways World magazine.
