A drawing in response to the MV Wakashio oil spill
Drawing has always been a way for me to express myself. Learning what
was happening in Mauritius was quite heartbreaking. However, I was
hopeful seeing the people back home working together to contain the leak
and prevent further damage.
'Made by Lepep Morisyen' means 'Made by the people of
Mauritius'.
The sketch illustrates how DIY booms help in containing the leak. The Dodo bird was an endemic bird to the island of Mauritius which unfortunately went extinct because of human action. The dodo is often used as a symbol of Mauritius and animal extinction.
