Mate 🧉

A Yerba mate is an herbal tea. This tea, commonly known simply as mate, is popular in parts of South America. The leaves and twigs of the yerba mate plant are dried, typically over a fire, and steeped in hot water to make an herbal tea. It is consumed in America since pre-Hispanic times by some ethnic groups of Tupi-Guarani origin and was quickly adopted by Spanish colonists and remained as part of the cultural heritage mainly in Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. It has a stimulating effect due to the "mateine" it contains.
The Argentine Mate is a national pride, an excuse for the encounter, a custom that is transmitted by family heritage and accompanies all day.. is a symbol of union and conversation. From parents to children, the habit is passed down from generation to generation: for many parents it is a source of pride that their children begin to drink mate. Children start trink mate when they see adults, and they see it as a game, they ask because it catches their attention.
