🦔 Save the Hedgehogs! 🦔
❗ The British hedgehog is now officially classified as vulnerable to extinction! ❗
Hedgehogs are often said to be a gardener’s best friend, because they
eat all the slugs, snails, and other insects which can destroy prized
plants. They were also voted the
UK's Favourite Mammal in a
2016 poll
by the Royal Society of Biology.
When was the last time you saw a hedgehog? If you live in a rural area,
maybe you’ve been lucky enough to see one recently, but if you live in a
more urban environment you may not have seen one for years, if at all.
In the UK, the hedgehog population has more than halved since 2000, and
other parts of Europe are also seeing a decline in their numbers.
