Want to eat more plant-based, but don't know where to start?
Are you hungry for change? Do you want to improve your health, be a more conscious and compassionate human, or save the environment, but don't know where to start? Committing to a plant-based diet can seem extreme, and you may be asking yourself questions like: "Do I have to give up ice cream or doughnuts?"
๐ All these treats are 100% plant-based! ๐ No real sacrifice here! Quite the opposite: You're actually saving lives switching to a plant-based diet!
or "Where do I even get my protein?" The answers, my friend, are more simple than you might think: some of the strongest land animals you know, are all vegan! (Gorillas, Elephants, Rhinos, Horses... to name a few! ๐ช๐)
In the 21st century, where we can have fresh fruit and veggies all year round and where we
have companies creating a market for plant-based diets, going vegan has
never been easier! ๐
Ben & Jerry's
has some of the best indulgent plant-based ice cream options! Their
Cherry Garcia is made with almond milk, and their Mint Cookie is made
with sunflower seed butter! SO creamy and satisfying!
Most of the time when you think of plant-based you think a handful of
nuts and seeds and no cheese. You'll be surprised to find out that most
meal plans that will help you get started are full of recipes like
lasagna, pizza, mac n "cheese", scrambled "eggs" and more!(tip: Use black salt! (aka kala namak) It gives a distinct egg flavor to tofu!)
The culinary world has flooded the
internet with plant-based recipes on demand!
My point is simple:
Trying out a plant-based diet has never been easier! You can find a
vegan recipe or product for almost anything you're craving!

Did you know, replacing one meal a week(or day!) with a plant-based option is
easier than ever? Try a
Meatless Monday! Gardein Chkn Nuggets are so good - you're kids won't know the difference, and neither will you!
You could use
Tofurky Hickory smoked deli slices on
your sandwich with a vegan mayo, grab a Gardein skillet meal or swap your
dessert with a dairy-free option, like a Daiya cheezecake or Ben & Jerry's dairy-free line of
ice cream ( did I mention how satisfying and delicious they are?!๐)
If you're interested in switching over to a more plant-based lifestyle try out the
one week challenge! โจMake a commitment to yourself to not eat meat, poultry, seafood, dairy or eggs for 1 week. ๐ชChoose the days you want
to do it - any 7 days in a row! Pick a few food options that you know you like, like pizza, spaghetti, chicken
nuggets, etc. - and find a recipe online or product already available and try that out!
Make it easier for yourself, not harder.
Plan ahead and grab a few items from the store ( most all stores have a plant-based section nowadays! Ask a store
associate if you're having trouble) and do some prep by writing down an option for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack -
that way you have a quick go to if you're ever hungry and can't think!
๐Junk foods are OK.
Donโt worry about eating super healthy as youโre starting your vegan experiment. For long-term health and budgeting,
whole foods and cooking for yourself are best, but feel free to grab that skillet meal or frozen pizza and just throw it in
the oven! Easy peasy!
