Autumn, also known as Fall in the
United States, is one of four seasons.
Autumn marks the transition from summer to
winter, starting in September and ending in December.
Autumn is the season when the duration of
daylight becomes noticeably shorter and the temperature cools
considerably. In the USA the leaves change to reds, oranges, and yellows
and fall off of trees. Pumpkins and apples are harvested. It is marked
by two holidays in the USA, Halloween, when children go
trick-or-treating, and Thanksgiving, when families gather to eat a meal
and talk about what they are most thankful for.
