Kropyvnytskyi is a city located in the valley and on the banks of the
Inhul River in the central part of Ukraine, about 300 km southeast of
Kyiv. It is the administrative center of Kirovohrad Oblast, an
important industrial and cultural center of the country. The
population of Kropyvnytskyi is about 222,700 (2021), the area - 103
sq. km.
Kropyvnytskyi is named after the Ukrainian writer and playwright Marko
Kropyvnytskyi (1840-1910), who created the first Ukrainian
professional theater while living in this city. The City Day of
Kropyvnytskyi is celebrated on the 3rd Saturday of September.
