Liveable Cities Campaign
Sharing Amsterdam's Story of Transformation from a City for Cars to a City for People
Some of the most harmful problems that cities face today are the result
of car-centric development leading to chronic congestion, local
pollution, and loss of public space with negative effects on economic
development and citizens quality of life. The Livable Cities campaign by
Sustainable Amsterdam shows how Amsterdam has tranformed itself from a
city dominated by cars to a city for people and bicycles. The campaign
hopes to help people see their city in a new light and rethink the
purpose and design of streets and public spaces.
