Crochet, knitting, weaving, knotting, and painting

These are all yarn arts!

Crochet Project

Using yarn to create art is one of the oldest crafts. The first yarn art, a textile, was created in 10,100 BCE and found in Guitarrero Cave, Peru. In 3,500 BCE, silk weavings begin to be produced in China. After this, embroidery emerged as an art form and, in Sweden, whipstitching emerged as a daily activity during the Migration period. Fast forward to today, and we still use yarn to help us craft beautiful pieces of art or functional items to use in everyday life.
