The aesthetic of self-care is so highly sought after because it means investing in yourself and taking the time to take care of your body and mind, something that is often overlooked, and seen as a luxury. Self-care is not a performance and not for the benefit of others, it is also not about what you look like. Self-care is a feeling not just an aesthetic. It is about finding the things that bring genuine contentment, value and balance to your life. Self-care includes everything related to staying physically healthy — including hygiene, nutrition, and seeking medical care when needed. It’s all the steps an individual can take to manage stressors in his or her life and take care of his or her own health and well-being. Common examples of self-care include: maintaining a regular sleeping routine, eating healthy, spending time in nature, doing a hobby you enjoy, and expressing gratitude. Most importantly its about taking time for yourself, doing things you enjoy, and giving yourself the time to destress from todays busy schedules and never ending deadlines. Self-care can look different for everyone, but to count as self-care, the behavior should promote health and happiness for you.
Anything that you do for yourself that feels nourishing to your mind, body, and soul.
