Arroz con leche literally translates to "rice with milk".
It is a rice pudding traditionally served alongside Mazamorra morada, a
jelly-like pudding made from Peruvian purple corn and fruit. When
paired, the dish is known as combinado.
Peruvian donuts served with syrup.
The dough is made from pumpkin and sweet potato while the syrup is made
from chancaca, unrefined sugar commonly used in Peru.
Ice cream made from Lucuma, a fruit native to the Andes.
Lucuma looks like an avocado with a yellow-orange flesh but is
sweet and has a high fiber content. Many regard it as a "superfruit" due
to its health benefits. Its also used in smoothies and many pastries.
Lucuma ice cream is sweet and delightful, the best ice cream flavor in
my opinion.
