The origin of Formula One can be traced back to the European Championship of the 1920s and 1930s. World War II put to a stop all racing in Europe. Some motor-racing enthusiasts started racing motor cars after World War II. In 1946 Formula One was agreed as a set of rules that all competitors must comply to. The 1946 Turin Grand Prix was the first Formula One Grand Prix event held.
