The official number of registered birds in the country exceeds 1,900 species, which represents a world record and positions Colombia as the most diverse country in terms of birds in the world, according to the scientific magazine Colombian Conservation, of the ProAves Foundation. "Because it is north of the equator, in an area with a unique relief on the planet and surrounded by two oceans, Colombia is a propitious territory to house a large number of ecosystems and different forms of life," says a report from the Institute Humboldt.
