Locs (also known as dreadlocs or dreads) are predominatley worn by African Americans. They can be described as ropelike strands of hair formed by matting or braiding hair. Although the exact origin is highly debated and complex, locs have a strong connection to the rastafarian culture who have a belief in the natural way of life. People get locs for a varity of reasons. For myself, it was a spiritual and cultural one.
