1: Arrive in Edinburgh
The country's capital is easily accessible wherever you're arriving
from. A very historic city, there's lots to explore. It has a medieval
Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical
buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s
crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny, used in the coronation of
Scottish rulers. Arthur’s Seat is an imposing peak in Holyrood Park with
sweeping views, and Calton Hill is topped with monuments and
memorials.
2: Travel to Glasgow
In under an hour's train journey, you can be in Glasgow, Scotland's
bustling cultural hub, home to institutions including the Scottish
Opera, Scottish Ballet and National Theatre of Scotland, as well as
acclaimed museums and a thriving music scene.
3: Explore Loch Lomond
A short train ride from Glasgow is the beautiful Loch Lomond and The
Trossachs National Park. The surrounding highlands area is home to red
deer and oak woodlands. On the eastern shore, footpaths and cycle trails
criss-cross craggy Ben Lomond mountain and the smaller Conic Hill.
4 to 5: Visit Arran
The Isle of Arran or simply Arran is an island off the west coast of
Scotland. It is the largest island in the Firth of Clyde and the
seventh-largest Scottish island, at 432 square kilometres.
