What is Sidr Honey?

Sidr Honey is one of the best types of honey available and comes from the flowers of the Sidr tree, also known as the Lote tree. Yemeni sidr honey is distinctive in both taste and health properties. It is mentioned in many different religious scriptures and therefore considered a sacred honey. The bees that produce this honey collect the nectar exclusively from the sidr tree, which gives it its richness and unique qualities. Another unique quality of this honey is that it is harvested only in the winter season using traditional methods and manual labour free of pesticides or other chemicals. Sidr honey is available in many different countries such as: Iraq, Oman, Kazakhstan and Morocco, however Yemeni sidr honey is the purest and highest grade available due to the quality of its sidr trees, manual labour and the environment. It has a unique taste, not as sweet as those with added sugar-syrup and a brown-reddish hue that does not change or crystalise over time, unlike other honeys.
