I love reading. Losing myself in a good book is one of my favourite pastimes and has bought so much value to my life that I think everyone should read and read often.

Studies have shown that reading is good for us. Wikipedia tells us that โ€œReading for pleasure has been linked to increased cognitive progress in vocabulary and mathematics during adolescence. Sustained high volume lifetime reading has been associated with high levels of academic attainment. Research suggests that reading can improve stress management, memory, focus, writing skills, and imagination. The cognitive benefits of reading continue into mid-life and the senior years. Research suggests that reading books and writing are among the brain-stimulating activities that can slow down cognitive decline in seniors.โ€ Learn More

But more than this, reading can bring so much joy and pleasure, as well as providing us the opportunity to experience life from someone else's point of view - to immerse ourselves into someone else's life.
