CONSORTIUM OF OCTOPUSES

πŸ™ Octopuses are for sure coders' spirit animal! πŸ™

3 facts to convince you octopuses are just like coders:

Okay, that's all fun, but really... Are octopuses that awesome?

Absolutely! They have fascinated, scared, and inspired all kind of folks since the Middle Age. If in their early depictions octopus have mostly evocated terror, in the recent years, octopuses have gained in popularity, thanks to scientific and creative people, who contribute to change our view on these truely fascinating animals. Kenna Castleberry writes on the blog OctoNation as a guest blogger, that:

"The strangeness of octopuses cannot be overstated:
Their arms each have a β€œbrain” of sorts, which makes them think independently of their body.
They have three hearts and blue blood.
They use tools and even create makeshift weapons.
No other animal on our planet is capable of these activities! So, it’s no surprise that we see octopuses as strange or alien. Yet, this does not mean they should be negatively depicted in popular culture."

Sy Montgomery (whose as awesome as an octopus, check her wikipedia page ) adds, interviewed for the same blog:

β€œWe Westerners had the octopus all wrong! Today, thankfully, cephalopods are enjoying a long-overdue image update and we recognize they are staggeringly smart and emotional. Instead of representing the terrors of the deep, they are surprisingly compelling ambassadors for our beleaguered oceans.”
