What is Home Health PT?


Home Health is a general setting in therapy that focuses on treating and educating patients that are considered home-bound due to physical ailment, mental deficit or recent surgical procedure who dependent or unable to leave the home with considerable assistance from others. Home health clinicians aim to increase patient safety, functional indepedence and overall quality of life. A multitude of treatments is available to patients in the home setting dependent on their diagnosis and plan of care. Treatments can include the following but are not limited to strengthening exercises, education on fall prevention in the home, caregiver training, improving transfer skills throughout the home, reviewing basic vital signs and checking medications, maintaining a clear line of communication between the therapy and medical team, ordering equipment or assistive devices in the home.
